Peter likes working on new project opportunities, and seeing them through from the identification and securing of the site to marketing the final product.
Contributing to the real estate industry is important to Peter and he has served as a Board Member of R.E.I; Vice President of FIABCI (the International Real Estate Federation); currently a Board Member of Real Estate Employers’ Federation and Vice President of Employers First (Australian Federation of Employers & Industries). Richard Corbett, as a principal of R&W Ben Boyd Real Estate, has marketed over 200 boutique, medium and large, new residential projects since the mid 1980s.
These projects have been mainly on Australia’s east coast in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
With his brother Peter he founded Ben Boyd Project Marketing and Ben Boyd Asia, being the first Australian company to successfully market Australian projects throughout Asia.
Maybe it is his technical training but Richard has a very strategic approach to project marketing. “Plan thoroughly, and work to, and monitor that plan” is one of his maxims, as is “our job is to sell all the apartments, not just the first half”.
From feasibility to selling, Richard’s experience can help to ensure the success of your project.
Mark Smith has had a four decade long career in property which has seen him involved in commercial and residential development, sales and leasing both at home and abroad.
Starting as a valuer with Jones Lang Wootton (now JLL), Mark spent 10 years working in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Hong Kong before joining the UK development firm MEPC, delivering projects in Sydney and Hawaii. On his return to Australia Mark joined the legendary Sid Londish and was soon dispatched to California where he project managed large scale residential developments.
After a period with the multinational Trikon property group Mark set up a project management consultancy before spying an opportunity to establish his own commercial real estate business in his home patch of Mosman. In 2003, he diversified into residential real estate with the acquisition of Peter Hill First National in North Sydney which became First National North Sydney. Thirteen years later Mark, together with fellow director Tim O’Halloran, merged with R&W North Sydney to form the largest real estate office of its type in North Sydney.
Mark is recognised as one of the foremost authorities in all aspects of commercial and tourism-related real estate, across sales, leasing and valuation. His advice is frequently sought by financial institutions and developers as well as private customers and trusts for whom he manages substantial property portfolios.
While pursuing a philosophy of growth, Mark has always sought to balance this with his commitment to putting the interests of staff and customers first.
In his personal life Mark is a keen sportsman. He is a member of several golf clubs, has finished six marathons and the Hawaii Ironman triathlon. For many years he was President of the Mosman Chamber of Commerce and has been a volunteer at TAFE colleges, speaking to students and mentoring those who seek assistance. He believes passing on knowledge and investing in human capital is an obligation that comes with business ownership.
Tim began his working life in finance and before switching to real estate and spent time working for Deutsch Bank in Sydney, then BT and Morgan Stanley in London for several years.
Property allowed him to develop a career that gave him variety, an opportunity to meet people and unshackled him from the indoor desk and office environment.
The years in finance proved an advantage facilitating his move into commercial real estate, initially as a property manager and then sales and leasing. While carving out a career in property he studied Valuation and followed that up at UTS graduate diploma in urban estate management.
Determined to be master of his own destiny Tim became a director and part-owner of what was then First National North Sydney in 2005 with responsibility for both commercial and residential property management and oversight of the residential sales teams.
Alongside Mark he has steered the company through more than a decade of steady growth through “old-fashioned” personal service and nurturing a business culture that rewards and encourages staff. It is a point of pride that staff turnover is low and client satisfaction high.
A father of three young children, Tim plays an active role in his local community, amongst other things as President of his daughters’ netball club and an active sportsman himself, participating in competitive bike racing, competed in several Ironman distance triathlons and ocean swim racing.
